Beautiful cycle path from Bereguardo to Abbiategrasso with a detour to Morimondo

The Naviglio di Bereguardo was built in the mid-15th century at the behest of the Duke of Milan Filippo Maria Visconti. For around 400 years this was the route by which goods coming from the sea reached Milan: going up the Po' and part of the Ticino to Pavia and then being transported by land until they reached this canal and sailed again to the city. Today the canal is used mainly for irrigation but is also a destination for many cyclists who appreciate the tranquility and quality of the cycle path of the same name which runs for about twenty kilometers along the western bank of the canal.

Here you can enjoy a moment of relaxation on the banks of the Ticino.

Abbiategrasso is the "Milan outpost" on Ticino: located just 29 km from the center of the Lombard capital, it is a good starting point for many excursions given its position and ease of reaching by train. Don't miss the historic center with the Palazzo Visconteo and the Basilica of Santa Maria Nuova.

Beautiful view immediately after the Caselle bridge going towards Beregurardo. Among other things, near Caselle there is also a small fountain.

Morimondo Abbey is the oldest in all of Lombardy and the fourth in Italy. Founded in 1134 by Cistercian monks from France, you can visit the entire complex on weekends with a guide. In Morimondo there are several restaurants and a good ice cream shop.
