The SP469, also known as the "Strada degli Orridi," is a particularly scenic route due to the tunnels carved into the rock and the sheer cliffs overlooking the lake, between Riva di Solto and Castro. It's ideal for those who enjoy panoramic views of the lake, but be aware of other road users.

Porta San Lorenzo, also known as Porta Garibaldi, is the smallest of the four gates to the upper town of Bergamo, built by the Venetian Republic between 1562 and 1563. It takes its name from the church of San Lorenzo, which was demolished for the construction of the city walls and was closed from 1605 to 1627 because it was deemed difficult to defend. On June 8, 1859, Giuseppe Garibaldi entered the city through this gate, an event commemorated by a plaque on its façade.

The Sanctuary of Our Lady of Tears—also known as the Madonna of Campolungo—dates back, according to legend/history, to an apparition of the Virgin to some shepherdesses on June 2, 1511. While observing a painting, they saw the image change and the Virgin's eyes shed blood, which she collected as she wiped it on the robe of one of the shepherdesses. The Virgin invited them to make the miracle public to passersby and to build a sanctuary dedicated to her on that site, which would be a harbinger of many miracles. Legend has it that a soldier on horseback also passed by. Upon hearing the girls' story, he mocked them with blasphemies and was immediately struck blind, along with his horse, by divine wrath. The story continues that the soldier promptly repented and, asking forgiveness from God and the Virgin for having blasphemed them, was healed along with his horse. This fact was recorded and recorded by the notary Guerinoni of Gorno, and after about ten days, construction of the church began, although the actual construction took place in 1525. In 1583, it also became the Parish Church of Ponte Nossa. The church, completely frescoed inside, has a late Romanesque gabled architecture in local stone with a projecting plinth at the top. Inside, a crocodile hangs from the ceiling, which, despite Bishop Corner's order for its removal in 1594, remained there and was never removed. The church was enlarged to its current structure in the 19th and 20th centuries, with the addition of a side chapel.

I've done it twice in the same lap, first from Desso, then after climbing Monte Pora. They're completely different. From Desso, it's long and always in double digits, with significant peaks, so take it with a pinch of salt; the other is rideable. Seeing is believing. 🚴♀️

A truly picturesque village. You can cross it from both the main road and the municipal road along the lake, but beware, as there are several businesses like bars and restaurants with waiters crossing the road with trays.

Very beautiful landscapes, roads without traffic except for a stretch from Trescore beach to the turnoff for Lake Endine.
