Tuttlingen is a medium-sized town in the south of Baden-Württemberg. It is the district capital and largest town in the Tuttlingen district and a medium-sized centre within the Black Forest-Baar-Heuberg region, to whose central area all 36 towns and communities in the district belong.

The core idea was to develop a continuous green belt along the northern bank of the Danube. The creation of a green lung in the center of the city and the integration of a wide variety of uses was pursued with the redesign of the approximately ten-hectare green area. Putting the river back at the center of the city and revitalizing the banks was another goal.

Before the park was completed, it was common to spend leisure time primarily in the surrounding area of Tuttlingen, but now the beneficial effect of such a large garden in the middle of the city is evident: you can enjoy nature in the city - whether during your lunch break or while taking a walk, visiting the skate park or with the family in the play area.

In 2003, the Danube in Tuttlingen was given a new face and has therefore become the focus of attention for residents and visitors to the city. The banks of the Danube, which were previously largely inaccessible, can now be strolled and experienced along the river. A continuous green belt along the Danube, seating terraces, a boat rental service and many places to linger by the water make the Danube in the city an experience. This applies to the area between the Groß Bruck and the new town hall as well as to the northern bank of the Danube, where a "park on the river in the city" was created with the support of the state - the Danube Park.
