Great wide views on the outskirts of Bad Saarow.

The Schermützelsee is a 137 hectare lake in the Brandenburg district of Märkisch-Oderland. It is the largest lake in Märkische Schweiz and is located in the center of the nature park of the same name, around 50 kilometers east of Berlin. The entire lake area and most of the shores are located in the area of the Kneipp spa town of Buckow. The name Schermützel goes back to the Slavic settlement period and very probably to the Slavic name for the buckthorn.

To mark the 200th anniversary of Fontane's birthday in 2019, sixteen panels with quotes from Theodor Fontane were erected on the peninsula covered in deciduous forest. The Berlin writer and journalist passed by here on his Easter hike through the Mark Brandenburg in 1881. The quotes were cut into panels made of Corten steel using laser technology and screwed onto concrete slabs. The highlight is a steel telescope entitled "View into Nothingness". It refers to a sentence by Fontane from 1881: "There is nothing in Saarow, I know that, and here in Pieskow there is nothing at all."

The Bad Saarow harbor on Seestrasse is where the hearts of many visitors to the spa town beat faster. Whether in the children's playground or the swan meadow, while strolling or taking a coffee break at the pavilion or drinking a cold beer in the beer garden - there is always a lot to talk about and see here. The four modern, air-conditioned passenger ships of the Scharmützelsee shipping company also depart from the harbor.

The Ludwig Lesser Promenade runs along the edge of the spa park along the lakeshore. It is named after the Berlin landscape architect who planned the park in Bad Saarow around 1910. Here, like a string of pearls, you will find the pavilion, the lakeside balcony, the Kursaal with restaurant terraces and the jetty of the Kurfürstenterrassen, as well as many other sights.
