The Storkow region is home to rare salt marshes, among the largest of their kind in Europe. You can discover this unique natural phenomenon on the Salt Trail. From the eight-meter-high observation tower in the Marschallwiesen, you'll have a sweeping view of the landscape – ideal for observing cranes and many other bird species in their natural habitat.

The Salt Trail near Storkow in the Dahme-Heideseen Nature Park leads to four stations dedicated to rare inland salt springs – places where saline water naturally surfaces. These special habitats provide an important refuge for rare plant and bird species, such as the lapwing and the common snipe, and are protected under European law (NATURA 2000). The salt springs were once used commercially; today, they are primarily important for nature conservation and research. The circular trail provides information about the region's geology, land use history, and biodiversity at the stations at the train station, Storkow Castle, Möllensdorf Meadows, and Bruchwiesen.

If you visit Storkow (Mark) Castle, you'll find the Visitor Center (BIZ) of the Dahme-Heideseen Nature Park. In the exhibition, you can discover the natural and cultural history of the region on three levels – the tour begins with the Ice Age and continues to the present day. Historical illustrations and maps await you on the top floor, giving you an insight into the castle's origins. The event series "You and Your Garden in the Nature Park" is particularly exciting, where experienced instructors show you how to care for your garden, make medicinal herbal ointments, or learn more about the garden's animal inhabitants. The staff at the tourist information center have many tips for excursions and discovery tours for you – whether you're traveling alone, with friends, or with family.
