This church, the "Chiesa di San Pietro" was dedicated to Saint Peter (Peter). Simon, nicknamed Peter (Rock), was a fisherman on the Sea of Galilee when he - together with his brother Andrew - was called by Jesus Christ to be "fishers of men".
