The Duivelskuil is a popular pond on the Bleijenbeek estate in the De Maasduinen nature reserve. The surrounding heathland certainly contributes to this. But for me, it's the view from this steep dune ridge that makes it so special. And this bench is in just the right spot to enjoy it.

This lock is no longer in use. Between 1971 and 2001, more than 22 thousand ships with sand and gravel sailed through this lock. The lock was counted out of use in 2001. A brasserie (Bosbrasserie In de sluis) and the visitor centre De Maasduinen are located on the inner head.

The Bergen sheepfold was built in 2002 according to an authentic model. Before that time, sheep already roamed the heath, but they slept in a mobile enclosure on the farmland. The sheep now have a permanent place in the landscape to ensure the preservation of the heathland. After all, heathland is a natural landscape that must be maintained, preferably by sheep.
