The Hünstollen Tower is a beautiful destination for a hike. It can be reached via various paths, and you'll be rewarded with a truly fantastic view from the top. An information panel provides interesting facts.

Easily accessible by bicycle and always open to visitors (the door is only secured with a bolt). The enclosed wooden structure looks quite tall. Inside, you sometimes need a light because the small windows don't quite manage to illuminate the narrow wooden staircase. The viewing platform offers a fairly good view and is partially enclosed with glass panels. In summer, be careful because there are bees in the tower. This is even mentioned on an information panel next to the entrance.

The Hünstollen tower stands on the highest point of the Plessewald forest. In good weather, the tower offers a magnificent view of the western Harz Mountains and the Brocken. Yesterday (January 4, 2021), I saw that the viewing platform was boarded up and the entire tower was also locked. Update: The tower has reopened after renovations. There used to be a small hut with refreshments here, but it was abandoned due to repeated vandalism.

Foresters live dangerously. This monument is also the second of its kind along this route. A few meters further north, Förster Hemmers had an accident with his motorcycle. About 2 km further south on the slope of the Bühsteppe there is a memorial stone for a forest worker.
