Sufficient information about the county art trail, some seating and the "entrance" to a great forest.

Is it art or can it go away? For me as a hiking enthusiast, nature-loving person, it spoils the beauty of nature! I have no understanding for a glass object at the edge of the forest is of no use to anyone! Or have I just not seen the point yet? 🧐

Art paths: raven tree

Nice alternative to drive from Bad Bentheim to Salzbergen. A bit bumpy, but easy to ride with a trekking (e)bike.

The Samerrott offers pure "forest romance" in its entirety. This beautiful mixed forest area has been a magnet for nature lovers for centuries. The path, which still leads through the forest today, used to be a postal route that led to Münster. The Tödden (box carriers), who were traveling as traders in the direction of Grafschaft Bentheim and Holland, also used this route. In the Middle Ages it was very difficult for horse and carts to get through here, so the horses were changed freshly at the Steider Heck. At the beginning of the forest, seen from the direction of Schüttorf, there are still fragments of the old legendary "raven tree". A formerly more than thousand-year-old oak tree.
