Two very beautiful ponds

There are two very beautiful ponds with benches.

The tree is dead, but its story lives on. It's hard to imagine that the oak was the only tree standing on this spot.

The Neckarzimmern Lock is a significant facility on the Neckar River in Baden-Württemberg. It was completed in 1935 as part of the canalization of the Neckar River 1 2. The lock consists of two chambers and has a lifting height of 5.60 meters 1 2. The facility also includes a hydroelectric power plant that operates year-round. The weir bridge spanning the lock is part of the Neckar Valley Cycle Path and is used by both cyclists and pedestrians.

It was my first uphill trail of this type, and I was surprised at how much fun it was. A well-designed trail!

The Fischbach Valley with its Fischbach Cycle Path is a natural idyll in our region. The town of Adelsheim draws part of its drinking water from the springs that flow here (e.g., Leopoldsbrunnen). Private wells should be protected, of course. Water is life!

Location: next to the panoramic path on Jubelsberg The distinctive feature of this pedunculate oak is a crack extending from the base of the trunk to the crown, which widens into a hollow. In March 2017, the city's oldest tree was secured with steel cables. January 2025: Hardly any small branches are visible in the crown. The bark has peeled off in the western part and sounds hollow. The attached steel cables hang loosely in places.

Here, a very delicate front door made of oak has been faithfully recreated. Can be admired directly on the Schefflenztal cycle and hiking path. The original dates from 1788 and is located in the attic of the Schüßler farmhouse in Gottersdorf.
