We had a mandatory hour-long break here because I had a flat tire. You can, however, take a nice break on the various benches.

On busy boating days, you can sometimes find yourself parked here for a while in front of the bridge. You'll have a great view of everything happening in the lock.

The Vecht River rises in Utrecht, at the Bemuurde Weerd/Weerdsluis lock, and meanders past various villages until it reaches Muiderslot Castle, where it flows into the IJmeer. Along the way, you'll pass through picturesque towns like Maarssen, Breukelen, and Vreeland, as well as the many country estates that wealthy Amsterdammers built along the river in past centuries to escape the hustle and bustle of the city.

A beautiful route that takes you through the lake area and along the Vecht at the Kortenhoefse Plassen. Enjoy the calm waters and the surrounding nature, perfect for a relaxing bike ride. This area is ideal to enjoy the flora and fauna, with plenty of opportunities to spot birds.

The Nes is a former meander of the Vecht that has grown into a lake through sand extraction. In the water you can see some remaining strips of land. These are covered with swamp forest of black alder, willow and ash. Reeds, calamus, marsh and shore sedge grow along the banks. On the water you see yellow plum and white water lily.

Along this lovely little road you have beautiful views, lovely farms and in the distance you can see Vreeland. There is hardly any car traffic (one-way street)
