From an elongated floor plan consisting of three rectangles, a country house was built under glazed, improved Dutch tile gabled roofs with projecting eaves resting on carved studs. Fort Penserdijk was built in 1885 as part of the "Monden van de Maas en Haringvliet" (Mouths of the Maas and Haringvliet) defence line.
