The Herperduin nature reserve is approximately 400 hectares in size. It used to be a moorland and drifting sand and agricultural area, but from the late 19th century it has been planted with Scots pine to capture the drifting sand and provide mining timber. In this area you will find beautiful forests, drift sand remnants and a few lakes, namely the Klompven and the Groot Ganzenven. It is wonderful walking. cycling and equestrian. For the daredevils there are also some mountain bike routes. Not enough adventure yet? Follow your primal instinct to Herperduin and spot the Exmoor pony, Tauros and badger in the wild. Bikepark Mook is a bike park that was completed in the spring of 2021 and is the kind you rarely see in the Netherlands. At the moment, the bike park consists of two lines, red and black. At the start of both, it is clearly indicated what you can expect. The red line is still rideable for hardtail riders, but the black line is really more of an enduro line. Tip: don't overestimate yourself and first explore the route(s) calmly before you really let go of the brakes. You wouldn't be the first to have to be taken away by ambulance in a short time. The various hills can be jumped as well as ridden with both wheels on the ground... however, you have to know a little bit about what you are getting into... but then it is really super cool cycling here!
