Tranekær Castle is the oldest inhabited house in Denmark and stands out from the beautiful landscape with its location and its beautiful red color. Originally built as a heavily fortified castle with a moat and drawbridge, the castle enjoys an extremely favorable location. Isolated and built on a 20-meter-high shore, it used to be possible to sail from both the east and west sides of Langeland to the foot of the castle. When traveling on Langeland, one had to pass by the castle. The castle is located on one of the island's many "hat hills." In this way, the site offered the castle's inhabitants considerable protection from the very beginning. With the construction of moats and a ring wall, the castle became a virtually impregnable fortress over time. Tranekær Castle is inhabited by the Ahlefeldt-Laurvig family and is now a modern agricultural and forestry business with an area of 1,733 hectares. The main building and the castle grounds are not open to the public, but outside the moats, you can stroll along a beautiful path, where you can see unique trees in the park, including the rare Chinese conifer, the water fir. The Langeland Line operates hourly between Spodsbjerg on Langeland and Tårs on Lolland. The crossing takes 45 minutes.

Since May 2025, it features a new, interactive artwork, "Klokketårnet" (Bell Tower) by Bjørn Eriksen. A collection of unique, handcrafted musical instruments made from recycled materials can be discovered and played. A great idea for all ages, it's sure to inspire everyone to try them out. Former station of the private "Langelandsbanen" (LB), which operated between 1911 and 1962. Today, the city archives are housed here.

The Danish Baltic Sea Cycle Route N8 (Østersøruten) crosses the island of Langeland on charming back roads between Spodsbjerg and Rudkøbing.

There is also a fish restaurant in the harbor.

Langelands Museum was founded and built by the merchant Jens Winther, who was born in Rudkøbing in 1863. The collections in Langelands Museum include finds and objects from antiquity to modern times. All objects come from the museum's working area, namely Langeland and Strynø.
