From Via Stazione, there are interesting views up to the old town perched on the mountain, with its mighty castle. To the right (northeast), the path leads to the Celano Gorge, either over the mountain with its magnificent views (see corresponding HL) or around it.

The castle of San Donato is located in the village of the same name, whose remains are at an altitude of 1174 metres. There are visible ruins of the castle, two circular towers and the staircase from which to descend.

Rovere is among the oldest villages on the Rocche plateau. Right at the top of the town are the ruins of the ancient castle dating back to the 12th century. They can be reached with an easy walk and offer a breathtaking view of the village and the entire plateau.

The village of Ovindoli stands at 1375 m asl in the presence of Mount Magnola. It is located within the Sirente-Velino Regional Natural Park, in the so-called "Altopiano delle Rocche". In addition to the naturalistic beauties, it is also worth mentioning its ancient castle-enclosure dating back to an era between the 12th and 14th centuries.

From the ruins of the ancient castle of San Donato you can enjoy a beautiful view of the surrounding mountain ranges and you are below the top of Colle di Mezzo.

There could be traffic at peak time

As soon as you leave the town in the direction of Ovindoli you can admire this view of the town of Celano and the underlying Piana del Fucino. Do not miss the Piccolomini Castle, where the museum of sacred art is set up inside.
