Kasteel Beverbeek is a castle located northwest of Hamont in the Belgian province of Limburg. The castle is located at Beverbeek 19. The area was part of the goods of the lordship of Grevenbroek, and was sold on April 16, 1722. The part that was in Achel, is the current Beverbeekhoeve. The part in Hamont, with the so-called Nieuwe Hoeve, was sold separately. In 1875, however, it was purchased by Mathias Joannes Petrus Slegers, who had also purchased the domain of the Beverbeekhoeve the year before. This farm was demolished in 1878, but in the immediate vicinity of it, the current castle in Tudor style was built in 1889, designed by the architect Mathieu Christiaens for Joseph Slegers (°1837). He was a doctor of law and lawyer in Tongeren. He was married to Joséphine Schaetzen (Liège, °1849) the daughter of Willem Schaetzen and Hortense Verpoorten. This castle is a striking, high building with a bay window and flanked by a platform. The castle is situated in a park of 3 ha, designed in English landscape style, and equipped with a pond.

https://kasteelasten.nl Due to its vulnerability and the fact that it is located on private property, the ruins are only accessible by appointment. On the edge of the Peel, hidden behind lush vegetation, lie the romantic remains of the more than 600 year old castle of Asten. The idyllic ruin evokes a turbulent past of exploitation, wars and witch hunts. The last war was fatal to the castle, in 1944 an attack on the castle took place in which the building became a ruin. The castle may have perished, but the outer bailey still stands in all its glory and has been continuously inhabited for the centuries of its existence. Until the 1970s they were farms and at the moment they offer shelter to around fifty people. Due to its vulnerability and the fact that it is located on private property, the ruins are not freely accessible.

In 1899, the farm that belonged to the castle was demolished. A villa took its place. This was the basis for the current castle-like building, which was equipped with a tower at the beginning of the 20th century. Former town hall of the municipality of Maarheeze In 1938, the then municipality of Maarheeze bought the property and the castle was converted into a town hall. This remained until 1997, when the municipality of Maarheeze merged into the merged municipality of Cranendonck.

Grevenbroek Castle or Grevenbroek Castle no longer exists. However, many people think so, but that is because it is confused with Genenbroek Castle. What remains of the castle of Grevenbroek, which was founded in the fourteenth century - and perhaps even earlier - are a few remains in the form of ruins with ramparts and rubble. As a walker you only see the closed site where all this can be found and an information board about the Burcht van Grevenbroek at this location. The castle site is therefore of considerable importance because you do not have many medieval castle sites in the north of Limburg and because the castle was important in the history of the county of Loon, the principality of Liège and a conflict between France and a coalition of Austrians, English. and Dutch. You can read more about that and the castle here: https://inventaris.onroerenderfgoed.be/erfgoedobjecten/308493

The stylish Heeze Castle is beautifully surrounded by canals. This castle has been inhabited by the Van Tuyll van Serooskerken family since 1760, making it one of the last inhabited castles in the Netherlands. However, you can go inside for a tour during the summer season and weddings and business meetings are organized there. Check the website www.kasteelheeze.nl for all information.
