This forest was created in the 18th century on a drifting dune from the last ice age. Eight beech avenues lead to the top, known as the Wrangebult. In the past, there was supposed to have been a gallows here, but there is no evidence of this. There are two kolks at the bulge, the Zwarte Kolk and the Witte Kolk. During the day, it is beautiful to walk here, but at night, the Witte Wieven (White Ladies) rise from the kolks.

Beautiful and very well marked walk, partly through the forest and partly along marshy areas. The starting point is at a nice restaurant with sufficient parking.

Warning! On this stretch of cycle path near this exact point there is a big bump caused by a tree root and it is hard to see. The handlebars recently knocked me out of my hands there but luckily I managed to avoid a fall. I would definitely not go faster than 20 here. The rest of the cycle path is fine.

A car-free concrete path through the tranquil meadow landscape between Rheden and Doesburg. The surface is also ideal for road bikes 👍

Everyone is very friendly here! There are many with dogs here. Therefore ideal for people with dogs that can walk freely and listen to commands well.

Gravel was needed for the construction of the A12. This was dredged here. That is why the lake is also called the 'Baggergat'. In the foreground are the remains of a swimming pool from the early years. Later, a sandy beach with shallow water was created further on the right, where it is safe (?) to swim. Because it is very deep in the middle, there is sometimes a large temperature difference between the deeper water and the water at the beach.
