The Naab (Fichtelnaab) is 42 kilometers long. Its origin lies at the southern foot of the Ochsenkopf, where numerous rivulets flow together and unite with the captured Naab spring. The Fichtelnaabquelle is 867 meters above sea level in a high forest. The source is about 800 meters southeast of the Weißmainquelle. There is a shelter next to the Fichtelnaabquelle.

Not for nothing one of the most popular destinations in the Fichtelgebirge, whether on foot, by mountain bike or by chairlift, everyone gets their money's worth up here. Access to the Asenturm is free and definitely worth it. From here you have a wonderful view far into the Fichtelgebirge. A visit to the Asenturm restaurant is definitely a good idea, nice terrace and nice service, food and drinks at fair prices. Beautiful photo motifs are the landmark, the summit cross and the Goethefelsen.

Numerous hiking trails start from this small lake and the adjacent car park. Since the Karchessee is located directly on the B 303, it is not so idyllic.

Located directly on the B303, you will also find Gasthaus zum Karches not far away. Here you can eat very well.

At a height of 887 m, the White Main rises on the eastern slope of the Ochsenkopf, also known as the "Princely Fountain". Ever since it was bordered in 1827 with the inscription "Weißmainquelle", the spring has been a welcome stop on the Ochsenkopf ascent. Even Goethe is said to have taken a refreshing drop here, which I was denied during my visit today, as it really only "dribbled".

From the Karches-See or Karches-Weiher with the Waldrasthaus Karches (hiking car park) the Goetheweg leads to the Weißmainfelsen, the Weißmainquelle and the Ochsenkopf summit. You can also hike the Weißmain nature trail to the Bischofsgrün valley station here.
