The Protestant St. Matthew's Church stands centrally in the town center. Its neo-Gothic style and location on the market square define the townscape. The current church was built between 1889 and 1891, replacing an earlier structure that was almost completely destroyed in a devastating town fire. Despite the destruction of the previous building, some elements survived, such as a bell from 1626, which can now be found in the church's vestibule. The church itself is a three-aisled neo-Gothic hall church with a striking single-tower facade. A highlight of the interior is the altar, dating from 1992. It features linden wood sculptures by the artist Werner Mally-Kral, integrated into a neo-Gothic altarpiece.

Here, you'll still find an old signal from the old railway line, which has now been converted into a cycle path. Next to it, a sign provides information about this historic route, which was in service until 1993 and remained in operation for a good 10 years longer, as far as Himmelkron/Lanzendorf.

Small viewpoint. The local trail from Goldkronach to Goldmühl passes here, marked with white and blue trail signs. It is used by experienced mountain bikers.

Steep trail. At the lower end is a horse farm, through which the marked hiking trail also passes. Therefore, please proceed with caution. Horses are often skittish, and dangerous situations can arise!

Bikers and hikers are welcome here. There's good coffee and cake and snacks. You can bring your own snacks, which is encouraged, as this is a European-sponsored hiking hut, run by Goldkronach.

A beautiful, rooty singletrack with a moderate gradient. It's also easy to manage uphill.
