The rock grotto with waterfall was created in 1817 and dates back to the time of Duke Duke Ernst I (1784-1844). The small “Prinzenweiher” above serves as a water reservoir.
The name of the cave is probably due to Titus, who hid here as a soldier before the conscription. Take a closer look at the cave, if it really offers a good hiding place. ;-)
This "Döbrich's Cave" is one of Coburg's little mysteries. According to legend, it's sometimes interpreted as the entrance/exit to a buried secret passage leading to the Veste Coburg fortress. It is indeed a cave, not a cellar, but man-made.
