If you head clockwise up Magaro, you'll descend through a long, narrow gully that requires surefootedness. It's still easy to walk, and you'll be rewarded with a beautiful view down the mountain.

After the challenging climb, you'll be rewarded with a fantastic view: of Lake Ohrid and Lake Prespa, and across the green border to Albania. On clear days, you'll have a fantastic view. Most of the time, you'll be alone up there, or at most in the company of one or two other hikers. If you're near Lake Ohrid, you should make this tour your priority!

Breathtaking views over Skopje and the Shar Planina and Solunska Glava mountains await. From here, the marked hiking trail descends into the Matka Gorge. The descent is very steep, rocky, and strenuous in parts. However, there are no exposed sections. Caution: In the warmer months, cows apparently graze in the meadows around Kale. I could hear them through their bells and walked past them at a distance.

At the beginning, it's not really a hiking trail, but rather a service road. But the closer you get to the Kale peak, the more beautiful the trail becomes. You hike across a beautiful mountain meadow to the summit and can enjoy the view. Especially in spring, the meadows are still beautifully green, and the flowers are in bloom.

The two countries share this peak. That's why you can climb it from both sides. In my case, I chose the route in Albania. I think the surroundings are very beautiful and you have a great view from the top when the weather is good.
