Great view! The Æ Kaver, together with a second, no longer existing, sea mark, formed a bearing point for over 200 years that helped find the entrance to Sønderho harbor. The original fell over in a storm in 1930 and was rebuilt in 2011 as a symbol of Sønderho's continued connection with shipping.

The bunkers on Fanø were built using the so-called standard construction system. For each type of bunker there was a kit with drawings and formwork boards, which allowed mass production with a uniform standard. The walls were between 2 and 3.5 m thick and consisted of up to 1,500 m³ of reinforced concrete. The cost of building a bunker would be around €500,000 today. Although Fanø is made of sand, this was unsuitable for bunker construction because the sand from Fanø is too fine-grained and round to bind sufficiently. The sand therefore had to be procured from the mainland. On Fanø, around 75,000 m² of concrete were used for the bunkers under the most adverse conditions, which corresponds to almost 11,000 truckloads or the amount of concrete required for a two-lane motorway 75 km long (Hamburg to Lübeck). 3월 16, 2022, Kammerslusen Lock
The special thing about this lock is the narrow, separate pedestrian crossing and the separate single-lane car overpass (only cars, let alone trucks, there is no space)

The chamber lock is located at the mouth of Ribe Å in the Wadden Sea. It was built in 1912 in connection with the construction of a dike 1911-1915, which was built after several storm surges with water levels up to 4.41 meters above the daytime water in Ribe. The 15 km long dyke, which ran from the Roborghus charging station near Tjæreborg in the north to Vester Vedsted in the south, was intended to protect the low-lying areas behind against flooding and storm surges. The lock, which consists of two gates, is intended to bring the ships from one water level to the other and to compensate for the normal tidal difference of around two meters in the Wadden Sea. Ribe Å has been the city's lifeblood and main thoroughfare throughout history, but larger ships, receding water depths, sandbanks, difficult ridge slopes and more made navigating the river difficult, and its outer course was laid in the river as early as 1855 and the dug canal where it still is running. The northern part of Rømø, Juvre Sand, is a 20 km² area that has been used for military training purposes since 1954. Today, it is primarily used for training by army pilots, who attack mock-ups of tanks, aircraft, and military vehicles with aircraft. During the exercises, flares are fired, and a flashing white light glows on the control tower. It is generally forbidden to enter the area. However, you may observe the exercises from an observation platform. Please note that laser light is used during the exercises, which can cause eye damage. Therefore, the use of binoculars is not recommended. However, you are permitted to hike or cycle along the 10 km long Juvre Dike, which protects the Juvre areas. The dike crest may be crossed, but not entered.

In my opinion, a beautiful old sailor's church in which a visit should not be missed. Parking lots are plentiful. And the visit should be rounded off with a tour of Sønderho
