밀리 협곡에는 복원된 물레방앗간이 있어 작은 박물관으로 이용 가능했지만, 아쉽게도 현재는 임시 휴관 중입니다 😢. 협곡 자체는 19세기에 16개의 물레방앗간이 활발하게 운영되던 시절의 매혹적인 유적입니다! 🏞️✨ 당시 이 지역에 밀가루를 공급했으며 오늘날까지도 협곡의 이름("밀리"는 물레방앗간을 의미함)을 형성하고 있습니다. 오늘날에는 강바닥을 따라 많은 폐허가 된 물레방앗간 유적을 발견할 수 있으며, 역사 이야기를 들려주는 정보판도 있습니다.

We did the hike in October 2025, starting in Xiro Chorio and going clockwise to Chromonastiri, then back through the Mili Gorge. We started on a wide gravel track up to Chromonastiri, and from there descended on a rather overgrown path to the upper entrance of the gorge. The path through the gorge is sometimes difficult to discern, and the railings and rest areas, built in 2015, are in very poor condition, some broken and unusable. The ruins of the mills exude a certain morbid charm and are well worth seeing. Conclusion: A fairly nice hike, but not really a highlight or a "must-do" in Crete for me. 🌟🌟🌟out of 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Beautiful gorge for hiking with no entrance fee.

A demanding hike, even in summer. Don't underestimate the wind and the temperatures, so an early start is recommended.

Venetian drinking water fountain, here you can fill your water bottle or take some great photos. There are lots of restaurants and ice cream parlors in the area. I thought it was very nice.

Apart from a few millstones, the interior contains nothing that would illustrate the technology.

The summit was part of one of the stages of the E4 long-distance hiking trail, so we climbed over the Nida plateau (approx. 1100m from there). It took quite a long time because almost everything in the landscape was the same. Nice summit, but due to the strong wind you could hardly stay for more than 10 minutes despite all the clothes we had.
