Along with Rauma and Porvoo, Kristinestad is one of the largest and best-preserved wooden house towns in Finland. There are several restaurants and a supermarket here. The campsite is 1 km away.

Very nicely located campsite and beach. The kitchen is fully equipped. Tip: I put up my tent near the sauna. I was protected from the wind there and since the house was open, I also had a private room including a toilet.

Cannon Bay Cannon Bay is located just five kilometers south of the city center. The area offers beautiful hiking trails and has traces of the last ice age. In Cannon Bay there are both beautiful rocks and charming green areas. The place is very popular and many come here to take a dip in the sea. Do you have a picnic basket with you? This is the right place to enjoy a nice meal outdoors. There are two campfire sites and the city provides the firewood. There used to be a signal station in Cannon Bay. A signal station consisted of a mast with several yards. Each of the signs raised to the yards had a unique meaning. During operation, the station was always manned. From Cannon Bay to the city center, a passage was built in the forest that made it possible to observe the station. The observers in the tower of the town hall could in turn direct the cannon fire.

Particularly worth mentioning is the church roof made of wooden shingles! It is very impressive to see that the entire church, including its furnishings, is made of wood!

The Mill Hill If you visit the town, you will see the impressive Myllykallio windmill as part of the city's skyline. There were once nine windmills, of which only one remains today. They were once used to grind flour from the surrounding area.

Ulrika Eleonora The first wooden church in Kristinestad was built in 1654-58 on the site where Ulrika Eleonora Church is today, but it burned down on June 16, 1697. Construction of Ulrika Eleonora Church was completed in 1700. The church was renovated and re-consecrated in 1965. The wooden church with the votive ships hanging from the ceiling is typical of the coastal region. Shipbuilding can also be seen elsewhere in the church, e.g. inside the ceiling structure. The church's old cemetery contains the graves of the old famous families as well as the heroes' graves. The church hosts several services a year. Ulrika Eleonora is a popular place for weddings in the summer.
