Saalbach is one of the oldest crossings of the upper Saale River; the original ford was later replaced by a footbridge. In 1875, this footbridge was extended by a covered wooden bridge, which was destroyed in 1945 by order of German troops. It's great that, since the construction of this bridge in 2004, you can cross the river again.

The green ribbon bridge was built in 2009, financed by EU funds and the former municipality of Pottiga & the municipality of Berg The ceremonial inauguration took place on November 8, 2009, almost exactly 20 years after the border was opened, in the presence of many visitors and guests of honor It leads to the Blumenaumühle and the hiking trails on the Franconian side.
