Long, narrow, sometimes steep single trail with a few switchbacks 👌🏻 that leads down to the boat company landing stage. Can be quite overgrown in summer! From there either continue by boat or back in the direction of Heinrichstein on a steep uphill climb. Nothing for beginners or a leisurely family outing. Beware of hikers!

A nicely made space on the starting stone of the Rennsteig opposite is the hiking hub. Above the Selbitzbrücke there are still a few things worth seeing, such as the info point, the shoe tree and much more.

The Rennsteig cycle route follows the Rennsteig courier and trade route, which has existed since the Middle Ages, for 195 km. The long-distance cycle path is mostly carefully graveled, sometimes also on quiet sections of country road. On the ridge of the Thuringian low mountain range, the cycle path is largely identical to the hiking path of the same name, but differs here and there from the historic Rennsteig so that steep climbs were avoided. Start is at Hörschel west of Eisenach, finish in Blankenstein an der Saale (Wikipedia).
