The castle, located in the picturesque Holtfeld district of Borgholzhausen, impresses with its unique architecture. In addition to the idyllic outer bailey and the impressive main building, the partially preserved moat complex and the oak avenue access are particularly worth seeing. The moated castle was first mentioned in documents in 1350 and was owned by the Lords of Wendt from 1491 to 1863. The manor house, built between 1599 and 1602, is an imposing gabled building with a square corner tower and magnificent volute gables. The moated castle cannot be visited. It is located on a well-accessible road.

Nice view over the valley

Of course, a wide view also means: from above. And things always go up and down around Iburg.

This crossroads is completely lonely with no house or farm nearby. But with a remarkable view over the valley.

Just a great view from up here

The castle complex has been partly preserved, partly rebuilt, or replaced by other buildings. Teaching events are held here, there's a small open-air theater, a playground, a café open on weekends, and a terrace with a magnificent view.

From the parking lot it's about 700 m high, although steep, but it's worth it ... you can also sit in the café above ...
