Ravensberg Castle is only a few kilometers from Borgholzhausen. After it was built in 1080, it was the ancestral seat of the Counts of Ravensberg until 1346. Today the castle is looked after by a foundation and regularly opens its doors for medieval markets, concerts and educational programs.

The castle restaurant is furnished in the old forester's lodge, built in 1868. The design is by the Prussian architect Karl Friedrich Schinkel. Today a wonderful place for a break, in the summer on the terrace, in the winter in the dining room by the tiled stove. Information and opening hours: restaurant-burg-ravensberg.de

The castle complex has been partly preserved, partly rebuilt, or replaced by other buildings. Teaching events are held here, there's a small open-air theater, a playground, a café open on weekends, and a terrace with a magnificent view.
