This tunnel-canal, classified on the list of historical monuments, is 681 meters long. It avoids a long detour made by the Saône. Its construction was the subject of two phases of work, the war campaigns having interrupted the construction site. It started in 1838 and ended in 1882.

The village of Ray-sur-Sâone gives you a taste of Franche-Comté. Its church has a magnificent Comtois-style glazed tile roof. The village, classified as a city of character, is dominated by a medieval castle, which was the largest fortress in Franche-Comté in the Middle Ages. He counted no less than fourteen turns. The castle can only be visited as part of guided tours. Reservations for visits are required at 03.84.95.77.37 or via the email address chateauderay@haute-saone.fr. In the village square you will also find an elegant wash house, which has an unusual oval basin.

The Ormois fountain was built in 1780 by Anatole Amoudru, one of the most productive and influential Comtois architects of his time. Long forgotten, since buried under piles of earth, the fountain was excavated in 1988! Laid out at the foot of a source, it is made up of a small aedicule and 2 oval basins: the drinking trough and the washhouse. These elements are surrounded by a radiant paving and interconnected by channels pouring water according to the principle of communicating vessels.
