In recent years, it has also increasingly become a meeting place for inline skaters. On the south-eastern side there can be enormous algae growth in summer, which makes swimming not exactly pleasant.

Located in the north of Hanover, nature lovers and those who want to swim will find an ideal area for their leisure time at Lake Altwarmbüchener. The lake is 48 hectares in size. Created artificially at the time, nature has now reclaimed much of it.

The 45.5 hectare lake was created in the 1980s as part of the expansion of the so-called "Moorautobahn".
