In 1583, Johann Zimmermann von Frohnhofen was the tenant of the mill in the "Drießbach," which belonged to the Dukes of Arenberg. In 1794, the tenant, Johannes Helten, paid nine malters of grain, a pig worth at least 150 pounds, and a chicken as annual rent. The chapel of St. Margareta and the village were first mentioned in 1307 as a Luxembourg fief. In 1576 the church was a branch of Tondorf. The valuable furnishings of the old church are thanks to the Counts of Blankenheim. It has been an independent parish church since 1804. The old church was a hall church with three axes and a mighty west tower and a small choir closed on three sides.
