The first lock between the Haussee and the Stolpsee was built in connection with the navigability of the Woblitz in 1752. This is where Himmelpfort got its name from. In the 13th century, the Cistercian monastery "Coeli Porta" (Heaven's Gate) was founded by Margrave Albrecht.
