The sheet pile wall is covered with moss. This was removed in certain places, after which these beautiful portraits became visible.

Nice walk around the reservoir, easy to walk even with a stroller.

It consists of an artificial reservoir (8 km long, 6 million m3 capacity) connected to two upper reservoirs by a system of pressure shafts. They direct the water into the underground machine hall, which is 330 m long and is located in the heart of the Nikolausberg.

Now let me say: A tourist center. By no means THE tourist center. The lake is quite nice. There used to be a Dorint Hotel here. But over time it was allowed to deteriorate and too little was invested. It has recently been orphaned and closed.

Beautiful tightrope walk over rugged slate rocks with great views. I liked it very much.

Very beautiful and varied hike with a few climbs, which, however, can be easily mastered provided you have the appropriate basic fitness. The reward for the effort are some really great views up to the heights of the Hunsrück. Sufficient benches on the way always offer the opportunity for a short break. In the Prümtal we were still able to discover traces of the devastating floods of mid-July 2021.

The reservoir near Biersdorf (approx. 12 kilometers northwest of Bitburg) in the scenic Prüm valley is the tourist center of the southern Eifel. The 35-hectare reservoir offers many different ways to spend the day during the warmer months. Those looking for relaxation will get their money's worth with rowing, paddling and fishing.
