The memorial with its many thank you plaques is always a popular place of worship. Every year on a May Sunday there is a procession from the parish church to the Marian column. In 1998 the parish community celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Marian Column with several hundred believers. In recent years, the taller trees have increasingly blocked the view of the Marian Column. In 2004, the Board of Trustees of today's Gerhard Faber Foundation took on the task of redesigning the entire complex. The dam, a 15 meter high earthen dam, was built by the Bitburg reservoir association for flood protection at a point where the narrow and deeply cut valley of the Prüm opens into a hollow that used to be always at risk of flooding. The reservoir, which is around two kilometers long and up to nine meters deep, is used to regulate low water levels, generate energy and provide local recreation, and has become a popular destination and a tourist center in the southern Eifel. Around the lake there is a five-kilometer circular trail and many other hiking trails, some of which are illuminated at night. This is also where the network of hiking trails in the German-Luxembourg Nature Park begins. Sports and leisure activities include rowing, paddling, surfing, pedal boating, inline skating, mountain biking, badminton, cycling and fishing (trout). Source: Wikipedia

On January 1, 1966, passenger services on the Pronsfeld-Heren section of the West Eifel Railway and on the Pronsfeld-Waxweiler line were discontinued, and passenger services on the Enz Valley Railway followed on June 1, 1969. The remaining passenger services to Prüm (Eifel) opened on May 28 discontinued in 1972. With the cessation of freight traffic to Bleialf and Waxweiler in May 1987, Pronsfeld became a through station again. With the cessation of freight traffic to Neuerburg on May 18, 1989, the station became a terminus. On June 11, 2001, freight traffic on the remaining section of the Western Eifel Railway from Gerolstein to Pronsfeld was discontinued. In 2006, a Köf II shunting locomotive built by Deutz AG was set up at the former level crossing on Habscheider Straße. The Köf was used by the DB from 1959 to 1984, then by a metal recycling company in Bremen-Hemelingen.[2] It was restored by volunteers, returned to its original DB condition and in 2007, together with a flat goods wagon, became the first part of the small open-air railway museum.

With the opening of the Prüm (Eifel) - Bleialf section on October 1, 1886, Pronsfeld received a rail connection to Gerolstein, and two years later to Sankt Vith. On July 6, 1907, the through station became a separation station with the opening of the Pronsfeld – Neuerburg and Pronsfeld – Waxweiler lines. The Reichsbahn therefore employed up to 50 workers and civil servants. The double-track line to Sankt Vith and the single-track lines to Waxweiler and Neuerburg, as well as their strategic military significance, made it necessary to equip them with increasingly complex rail facilities. Therefore, the station had in 1943 A Köf II shunting locomotive built by Deutz AG was installed at the former level crossing on Habscheider Strasse in 2006. The Köf was used by DB from 1959 to 1984 and then by a metal recycling company in Bremen-Hemelingen. [2] It was restored by volunteers, returned to its original condition and in 2007, together with a flat freight car, the first part of the small open-air railway museum.
