The gardens are very well maintained and not overcrowded, so the monastery and its individual buildings are the visual focal point.

No, of course this isn't Nice or Saint Tropez, which is why the boats are smaller😄. But the boats and small yachts are beautiful to look at. From here you can also take a wonderful walk along the Rhine towards Eltville.

One of the most important monasteries in Europe and at the same time the largest winery in Germany invites you to explore. Here you can book tours, do wine tastings, listen to concerts and do many other wonderful things. And then of course there is the gastronomic offer for young and old and the many activities for children. Great. You can find more information here: https://kloster-eberbach.de/de,

During high tide, the Main level adapts to the height of the Rhine up to the first barrage. There is not much to see from the Mainspitze on either side of the river.

Eltville is always beautiful - fetching a glass of wine at the wine stand, sitting down somewhere and looking at the Rhine is like a vacation

By far the most worthwhile destination of the whole tour. Rather inconspicuous when planning the tour on BRouter, but the name hoped for a certain flair. I was not disappointed. It smells of the sea, the Rhine water was crystal clear, the view was wide, the sky was azure and the sun burned your fur at 31 ° C. You pass this section when driving on the R3 and in Eltville on the very edge, close to the river. Shell and mineral collectors also get their money's worth.

A beautiful bike path along the Frankfurt - Mainz railway line. On the Hessian side is a viewing platform at the bridge portal. There you can linger and enjoy the view of the Mainz harbor and the waterfront.

One of the most impressive monuments of medieval monastic architecture in Europe is without a doubt the former Cistercian abbey Kloster Eberbach, which Bernhard von Clairvaux founded in 1136. The extensive complex with its Romanesque and early Gothic interiors became known to a worldwide audience a few years ago as the setting for the film adaptation of Umberto Eco's "The Name of the Rose". Furthermore, in November 2008, important scenes for the cinema film “VISION – From the Life of Hildegard von Bingen” were shot in Eberbach Monastery. However, Eberbach owes its real international reputation to the monks who cultivated viticulture for over 700 years. In the Middle Ages, Kloster Eberbach operated the most flourishing wine trading company in the entire world. To this day, the twelve historic wine presses in the lay refectory bear witness to the enormous yields from the monastic wine-growing areas. The abbey museum informs the visitor in detail about the history of the abbey and the Cistercian order. The monastery grounds belonged to the state of Hesse until 1998. With the founding of the Eberbach Monastery Foundation in 1998, the monastery became an independent legal entity. The mission of this foundation is to open up the monastery complex to everyone and to preserve the complex through moderate use and sustainable management. Together with the winery and the gastronomy, she also makes a large number of events possible through her own event management. Eberbach is a place of pilgrimage for wine lovers from all directions. The local wine brotherhood "Rheingauer Weinkonvent" is dedicated to spreading knowledge about wine; Cellar tastings in the cabinet or hospital cellar are offered by the Eberbach Monastery Foundation, and there are also festive wine tastings in the baroque refectory or in the lay dormitory from the early 13th century. There is also a branch office of the registry office of the city of Eltville am Rhein. Thus, the monastery has become a special place for weddings. Particularly attractive events in Eberbach Abbey in spring and autumn are the wine auctions, where rarities and unique items sometimes reach five-digit prices, the wine sales fair in April, the "Glorious Days" in November - an epicurean festival with all kinds of cultural performances - and Thanksgiving the Rheingau winegrowers on the first Sunday in December. Unfortunately, the basilica is currently (May 15, 2020) being renovated/restored. It's a pity that you didn't get any information about it anywhere (website or checkout) :(
