The towers and gates invite you into the historic old town from afar and narrow alleys lead you into picturesque nooks and crannies. The "stone knight" on the market square fountain welcomes us upright. It testifies to the pride and self-confidence of the former Free Imperial City, as does the imposing 200-year-old town hall, which is transformed into the world's largest Advent calendar house in winter and, with its countless romantic half-timbered buildings, dominates the cityscape. 

The prices correspond to the quality. My wife and I think it's very nice here.

The journey is the destination? Not at our Renchtalhütte in Bad Peterstal-Griesbach! The Black Forest, Alsatian and French specialties are so delicious, the view so beautiful, the atmosphere so enchanting and cozy that it's not "We're going hiking", but "We're hiking to the Renchtalhütte!" It's a wonderful spot high above the Renchtal, where the Renchtalhütte, as a "rustic branch" of the Dollenberg Hotel, knows how to pamper visitors in a down-to-earth way. With homemade Maultaschen with onion jus, Alsatian "Bäckeoffe", Bibileskäs, smoked Black Forest trout, sausage in a jar, cracklings, onion roast beef, fondue and raclette and, and, and. I recommend hiking the All Saints Falls from the bottom to the top; they look more spectacular this way, as you always have the falls in front of you. They are particularly impressive in spring and after prolonged rains; after extended dry periods, they are far less beautiful. In winter, the path, if passable at all, is often icy and not without danger. In summer, it is pleasantly cool here.

Very good food with a nice sun terrace and the opportunity for children to play in the playground or feed the goats.

Gengenbach has a great old town, many half-timbered houses and is a lively town on the Kinzig. Surrounded by vineyards, Gengenbach is a perfect place for a break.
