Gengenbach is a former free imperial city in the Kinzig valley. Historical buildings, fountains, towers and gates, narrow, romantic alleys and the wonderful market square invite visitors. The origins of the city go back to Roman times. The monastery was founded around 725, and the city was founded from there in 1230. Even then, the city was planned in its current appearance, with walls, towers and gates. In 1360, Gengenbach was elevated to the status of an imperial city and was therefore subject only to the emperor.

A beautifully designed facility made up of footbridges, bridges and other terrain, which is located on the Black Forest plateau between Kniebis and Ruhestein, which was devastated by the hurricane.
