Here, where the Mühlengraben flows into the Störkanal, the Waldlewitz River begins on the opposite side. The Gaartz Bridge, built in 2003, is only accessible to pedestrians and cyclists. Until 1989, a bascule bridge stood at this location, which had to be operated by boatmen using a hand winch. A view from the bridge over the Störkanal in both directions is a real treat! From the Gaartz Bridge, you have three options for continuing your exploration of the Waldlewitz: Cross the bridge and follow the forest paths to Göhren or Tramm (approx. 5 km). If you turn right, you will reach the tranquil Lewitz village of Jamel in approximately 4.5 km. If you follow the unpaved path along the Störkanal, you will reach the Breiter Graben after about 2 km. Here, turn right and after another 2 km you will reach the Friedrichsmoor hunting lodge, built in 1791. In summer, it's especially pleasant to linger in the castle courtyard and enjoy the house's specialties. The path is natural.

Beautifully designed trail of legends with all sorts of stories 😉 that are said to have happened. Numerous sculptures and a wonderful path under the oak trees towards the hunting lodge. The path is a bit bumpy, but still easy to cycle. During the week, the whole area is yours. Meaning, no other people around.

Crossing the bridge is no problem even for e-bikes as there are rails for pushing on the side of the stairs.

There are no traces of the first church in Crivitz. The foundation remains in the sacristy probably belong to a successor. The current building was probably built in brick at the end of the 14th century. While retaining the same floor plan, it underwent a number of changes over the centuries. If you don't scroll the map up, it looks like there's a bridge here. At least, that's what I thought when I arrived here from the north and wanted to continue on Banzkower Damm. Unfortunately, there isn't a bridge here, so I found myself standing in front of the canal and couldn't go any further... I then cycled south between the fishponds to cross the canal. In retrospect, the better option would have been to take the Gaartzer Bridge heading north. It does have steps, but that's definitely the better route.
