The mill is located 1.5 km north of Tangstedt in the Pinneberg district on the upper reaches of the Pinnau, into which the associated large mill pond drains. The swing bridge over the Pinnau was completed in 1887. As a cultural monument, it is now a listed building and is one of the two oldest swing bridges still in operation in Germany. The bridge keeper used to crank the bridge up and down with a handwheel to turn it sideways for shipping. Today this is done by an electric motor.
