Visitors can explore Schleswig-Holstein's largest raised bog on an almost four-kilometer nature trail. It leads sometimes over springy peat soil, sometimes through birch forest, sometimes over a boardwalk. Information boards along the way provide information about the extraordinary flora and fauna. At three different points, lookout points offer a beautiful view over the moor lake and the former peat extraction areas.

Natural idyll and industrial heritage:
In the Himmelmoor near Quickborn, both are combined in an exciting way.

Peat was still being mined in the raised bog in 2018.

Now, nature is reclaiming the area.

On a nearly four-kilometer-long nature trail, you can explore Schleswig-Holstein's
largest raised bog. It leads over springy peat soil, through birch forests, and along a boardwalk. Interpretive panels along the trail provide information about the extraordinary flora and fauna. Viewpoints at three different locations offer beautiful views over the moor lake and the former peat mining areas.

It's worth exploring this truly heavenly piece of nature.
