Visitors can explore Schleswig-Holstein's largest raised bog on a nearly four-kilometer-long nature trail. It leads over soft peat soil, through birch forests, and along a boardwalk. Information boards along the trail provide information about the extraordinary flora and fauna. At three different locations, vantage points offer a beautiful view of the moor lake and the former peat mining areas.

At three different points, lookout points offer a beautiful view over the moor lake and the former peat extraction areas.

Because the footbridge is raised, the vegetation underneath is preserved and the water can flow away unhindered.

The swing bridge over the Pinnau was completed in 1887. As a cultural monument, it is now a listed building and is one of the two oldest swing bridges still in operation in Germany. The bridge keeper used to crank the bridge up and down with a handwheel to turn it sideways for shipping. Today this is done by an electric motor.

Coming from Schulau, take the path to the left of the dike, it is difficult to drive, but wonderful nature, along the Elbe, driving through herds of sheep, seeing water birds, wonderful.

You don't necessarily have to dismount, but still be careful.
