Wonderful food and delicious homemade cakes await everyone who comes back hungry or thirsty from a hike. It's always packed since it opened in October 2025, so reservations are recommended.

The metal steps are part of the hiking trail through the wild and romantic Felsental valley, a section of the Lion's Trail "Geislinger Felsen-Tour." They are located at the end of the valley, where the valley narrows considerably and the rock faces rise steeply. The steps help you safely negotiate a particularly steep section.

The oil mill was once powered by the power of the Eyb, a small stream. Large mill wheels generated mechanical energy to press oil from regional raw materials—an indispensable product in everyday life in past centuries.

Although it stands in the shadow of its “big brother,” it offers a charm all of its own: From here, you have a particularly beautiful view towards Geislingen, which makes it a popular, but less frequented, photo spot.

From the striking rocky outcrop, a wide panoramic view opens up over the Fils Valley, the rooftops of Geislingen, and the surrounding hills of the Swabian Alb. The contrast between the town in the valley and the wooded, steep slopes that form a natural frame around the panorama is particularly striking.

The actual ascent to the Anwandfelsen is classified as difficult: Good basic fitness, surefootedness, and sturdy footwear are essential. Parts of the trail follow narrow, steep paths with an alpine character. Once at the top, you are rewarded with a fantastic panorama of Geislingen and the Fils Valley. The Anwandfelsen itself is a striking vantage point with unobstructed views over the wooded hills and the valley below – particularly impressive on a clear day or in the golden light of autumn.

As you climb up to the castle, sit in the shade under the linden tree and enjoy the view... wonderful.
