Despite the gently sloping, gravelly beach, it's worth taking a short break to enjoy the view and head down to the water. Nearby, "Der Fischer" (The Fisherman) invites you to stop for a rest.

Imposing barrage on the Lech River. At barrage 22, the water is diverted from the Lech River to the Lochbach, where three additional, smaller weirs are located. On the northern edge of Augsburg, the wide, parallel Lech Canal branches off towards Meitingen and only flows back into the riverbed after more than 20 kilometers. Along this Lech Canal are three power plants built between 1898 and 1922 (Gersthofen, Langweid, and Meitingen canal power plants). From the shore, you have a direct view of the wide reservoir, framed by green meadows and wooded shorelines. Especially at sunrise or sunset, the sky and landscape are reflected picturesquely in the water—a true delight for hikers, photographers, and nature lovers.
