Holger Danske Statue – A Monument to Danish Legends The Holger Danske Statue in Faaborg-Midtfyn is a silent yet powerful symbol of Danish mythology. Holger Danske, also known as Ogier the Dane, is a legendary hero who, according to legend, rests in an underground sleep and awakens when Denmark is in danger. The statue commemorates this mythical guardian and lends the place a special cultural depth. It is a popular hiking highlight, embedded in several easy circular routes through Faaborg. Beautiful medieval church with Norwegian history

Horne Church is the only round church on Funen. The central part of the present church, built of granite stones, a Nordic round church from the 13th century, was supplemented in the 15th century by two extensions to the east and west. The church bells date from 1568 and 1613. Located near Hvedholm Castle, Horne Church served as the parish church of the estate of the same name. A beautiful gable painting by Els Cools, Oliver Streich, and Bruno MacDonald on the gable of the "Director's" building on the old slaughterhouse site. The painting depicts a man watering the city's landmark, the bell tower. There are eight bell towers in total, all of different sizes and all planted in a flowerpot. Four of the small bell towers are sculptures made of cement, which were then painted in the colors of the bell tower. Faaborg's old town is one of the best-preserved in Denmark. Particularly noteworthy is the free-standing bell tower of the old town church of St. Nicholas, which was abandoned and demolished after the Reformation to make way for the Holy Spirit Monastery Church as the new parish church.
