Faaborg Churchyard – A place of remembrance and tranquility. Faaborg's main cemetery, often simply referred to as Faaborg Churchyard, is a well-maintained and tranquil space that combines both historical and modern elements. It is located near the city center and easily accessible – ideal for a quiet stroll or as a stop on a hike through the city. Older sections of the cemetery feature ornate gravestones and tell the story of Faaborg's past. New grave plots and well-maintained paths make the cemetery a place of dignity and reflection. Old trees, hedges, and flowerbeds create a peaceful atmosphere. You can also easily incorporate Faaborg Churchyard into a walking route through the city.

Vesterport – The Last Gate to the Medieval Town Vesterport is an impressive relic of Faaborg's medieval past – the last remaining city gate of a once fortified town. Originally part of a fortification with walls and moats, it later served as a customs checkpoint for goods entering the market town. With the abolition of excise duties in 1850, the gate lost its function, and in 1876, it was on the verge of demolition. Only the high costs and its proximity to neighboring houses saved it at the last minute. The loving restoration in 1879 and the further renovation in 1917 – including the reconstruction of the window openings and the gable – make Vesterport today a historical highlight. It is not only a popular photo spot but also a starting point for hikes through Faaborg's old town and surroundings.

Torvet – The lively heart of Faaborg Faaborg's market square is the vibrant heart of the town and a real highlight for visitors. Surrounded by charming restaurants, small shops, and historic buildings, the square invites you to linger and explore. The Ymerbrunnen fountain – a bronze copy of Kai Nielsen's original – is particularly eye-catching and lends the square an artistic touch. From Torvet, you have a wonderful view of the famous bell tower, Faaborg's landmark, which dominates the town's medieval skyline. The square is also the starting point for several popular hikes, such as to the Faaborg Museum or up to Lerbjerg, the highest point in the region. Faaborg's Old Town – A Stroll Through History Faaborg's Old Town is a true gem of Southern Denmark – charming, vibrant, and brimming with historical details. Cobblestone streets, colorful facades, and winding alleyways tell tales of centuries of urban development. Particularly impressive is the freestanding Klokketårn, a bell tower dating back to the late 15th century, which once belonged to St. Nicholas Church and now stands as a landmark overlooking the town. Walks through the Old Town lead past old merchants' houses, the Torvet market square, and the Faaborg Museum. From here, you can also glimpse the surrounding islands such as Bjørnø, Avernakø, and Lyø – a panorama that blends history and nature. The Old Town is not only a place to linger but also an ideal starting point for hikes and cultural explorations.

Faaborg Harbor is located in the heart of the South Funen Archipelago, in what is probably the most attractive sailing waters in Denmark. Just off the harbor are a series of beautiful islands that invite you to sail in calm waters. The cozy and atmospheric harbor was established at the end of the 17th century and is still an active harbor for commercial vessels and fishermen. Ferries to Lyø-Avernakø and the small island of Bjørnø chug into the harbor. The harbor is home to both beautiful old wooden ships and sailboats of all sizes. International cruise ships are relatively new to Faaborg. The first American luxury cruiser docked in Faaborg in 2011, and since then, many guests have flocked to this small town. The sculpture was originally made of sandstone, and the original is now housed in the Faaborg Museum. The version we see in Faaborg Square is a bronze copy, erected in 1964. The story behind the sculpture is based on legends and myths about the "creation of the world"... Made by sculptor Kai Nielsen. Donated by State Councilor Mads Rasmussen. A beautiful gable painting by Els Cools, Oliver Streich, and Bruno MacDonald on the gable of the "Director's" building on the old slaughterhouse site. The painting depicts a man watering the city's landmark, the bell tower. There are eight bell towers in total, all of different sizes and all planted in a flowerpot. Four of the small bell towers are sculptures made of cement, which were then painted in the colors of the bell tower. The artwork was created and installed by the artist Ole Hempel (1944-2007) in 1996.
