The Kaltenhofer Moor is an old raised bog that has been undergoing extensive restoration for several years, partly with the support of the state of Schleswig-Holstein. Among other things, the drainage ditches used to drain the bog are being filled in, thus rewetting the bog. The marshy clearings in the forest also benefit from the rewetting of the bog. There, amphibians are currently experiencing a large proliferation of species. The bog is absolutely worthy of protection, so the paths – which are actually just trails – must not be left.

The red brick building at the corner of Schulstraße and Kirchestraße was mainly built from demolition material from the Danish Nienhofer manor house (demolished in 1824) and/or poorhouse (1832). Between 1835 and 1846 there was a horse mill here that crushed groats and pearl barley, i.e. coarsely chopped cereals.

In the well-stocked farm shop there are seasonal and regional products from agriculture.
