Goldbergsee, a 145-hectare reservoir, was originally created as a flood control basin. Today, it is one of the most popular recreational areas in Coburg. The lake was created at the end of 2010. The beautiful path along the shore leads over a bridge toward Callenberg Castle. It's a pleasant ride, with a fantastic view of the lake as you cross the bridge.

The Globe in Coburg is a modern interim venue for the Coburg State Theater during the multi-year renovation of its historic main building. It opened on October 6, 2023, on the site of the former freight depot. The circular building with its striking wooden facade is not only a theater, but also a multifunctional building for various cultural and educational events. It seats up to 584 spectators and features flexible stage technology that allows for plays, operas, concerts, and ballets. Although originally intended as a temporary solution, the Globe Coburg quickly developed into an important part of Coburg's cultural life and is expected to continue to be used even after the main building reopens.
