The tiny village consists of only two inhabited houses and one abandoned building, but is accessible via a public "road" (a poorly maintained dirt road). It's a so-called outbuilding (Vorwerk), which existed as early as the Middle Ages under the name Grieben, but later fell into disuse. There's a small parking lot near the curious, dilapidated cemetery, and from there you can quickly reach the beautiful Wittwesee lake on foot (an insider tip!). At the turnoff to the cemetery, a large information board with photos highlights fascinating details!

Was here two days ago. A complicated journey with some gimmicky navigation, but an absolute highlight. Crystal-clear water, with only birds to be heard. Rudd swim around your feet in the shallow water. It all seemed unreal. Until a man with a German Shepherd came along and not only chased us away from the nearby jetty, which was actually forbidden (by whom and for whatever reason), but also forbade us from staying on the shore or entering the water there. He claimed the jetty belonged to Feldgrieben, and presumably meant himself. So there's at least one person with a dog there. And the dog should go in the water where visitors would otherwise be a nuisance. The entire area belongs to NABU (Nature and Biodiversity Conservation Union), but I didn't think that was appropriate, considering the dog.

For me one of the most beautiful running routes through the forest and around the Roofensee.

The tiny village of Feldgrieben is located only about 4 km from my forester's lodge. For the first few years there, I only ever saw references on hiking trail signs, and when we followed them, our hikes always ended in nowhere! We couldn't even spot the village in aerial photographs! So we came to the conclusion that Feldgrieben could only be a figment of our imagination. Years later, we discovered the village by chance while cycling. A little disappointed that our self-made myth had been debunked, we now cycle there quite often. The village lies on the crystal-clear Wittwensee and has a mysterious history. An unsolved swimming accident involving several missing teenagers a long, long time ago competes with the mysterious story of a Baltic noble family, the von Sacken-Osten family! A detour to Feldgrieben is always worthwhile! However, one myth persists: we've never seen a single soul there! Perhaps it's just a figment of our imagination after all!!!

Is a forest sinking here? Or was it just a little too humid? Definitely a mysterious sight.

The Polzow Canal runs from the Roofensee to the Nehmitzsee and Stechlinsee.

Well-kept, clean bathing area with light-colored sand, a sunbathing area, sanitary facilities. Nice view over the lake.
