At the height of this highlight, a large number of tufted flowers are currently growing in several places. A fungus entirely new to us, coated black as with tar, the older fungi melt in a black liquid to spread its spores.

All Oberhavel cycle paths meet here in Liebenberg at junction 1. It's all very well sorted.

The core is a rectangular fieldstone ashlar building from the 2nd half of the 13th century, radically changed after 1892 and in 1903, according to a design by G.v.Seidel, fitted with a mighty neo-Gothic south tower with high brick pinnacles. At the choir there is a crypt annexed by the v. Hertefeld, which was based here after the Thirty Years' War. In 1992 the crypt was restored. The pointed arched step portal in the west and two southern portals, one of which is added, have been preserved from the medieval building. In 2004 the restoration was completed.

Today the castle and the park is a popular place for conferences, wedding celebrations and you can also book beautiful rooms for a short break here. The restaurant is only open to house guests, but you can strengthen yourself and take a short break in the charming courtyard café. Fontane liked to stay at Schloss & Gut Liebenberg and even dedicated a chapter to Liebenberg in his work "Wandering through the Mark Brandenburg - Five Castles".

The "Kaiserweg" actually goes from Liebenberg Castle to the lake house on the Großer Lankesee. The background is that the most famous owner of Liebenberg Castle, Prince Philipp von Eulenburg and Hertefeld, was a close confidante of Kaiser Wilhelm II. The Liebenberger circle met regularly in Liebenberg (the Liebenberger Round Table) and went hunting in the woods with the Emperor. When the Seehaus was built in 1908, the gentlemen probably used the Kaiserweg.
