아이히게슈텔은 18세기에 조성된 길로, 부분적으로 참나무로 둘러싸여 있으며, 서쪽 끝에 있는 공원의 중앙 축이자 주요 길을 형성합니다. 아이히게슈텔은 루돌프 륄 알레(알테 푀르스터라이)에서 시작하여 약 3.5km 후 트레스코우 알레에서 끝납니다.

A beautiful view in both directions across the Spree River to Schöneweide. Among other things, the old industrial buildings are visible. Incidentally, the name "Kaisersteg" (Emperor's Bridge) in Berlin-Schöneweide is a reminder of the time of German Emperor Wilhelm II. Back then, a pedestrian bridge already existed at this location to transport workers from the burgeoning industrial plants, such as the Oberspree Cable Works (KWO) and the AEG factories, to their workplaces. The current bridge is a modern successor to this historic connection across the Spree.

Founded in 1882 as the Borussia Brewery, the six East Berlin breweries merged to form the Bärenquell Brewery in 1959. Beer production at this location ceased in 1994. https://www.reviersuedost.de

Unfortunately, the new bridge, built in 2007, bears no resemblance whatsoever to the original. The delicate iron truss structure, designed by Heinrich Müller-Breslau (one of the leading structural engineers of his time), was blown up in the final days of World War II and was considered one of the most significant achievements of engineering around 1900. Horse races were already being held in Karlshorst in 1862. The actual Karlshorst racecourse was built at the end of the 19th century. The Steeplechase Association had purchased the land from the estate owner von Treskow. The racecourse was opened on May 9, 1894. After German reunification, the land was put up for sale. Residential buildings were constructed on part of it, while another part was operated by the Berlin-Karlshorst Equestrian Park Association.
